Made as a Bergdorf Goodman exclusive item, this vintage Kimono Blazer by Issey Miyake is a reinterpretation of the traditional kimono form. It utilizes the Kimono’s casual banded shawl collar, relaxed body, and wide sleeves but places the button stance lower on the waist, utilizes asmooth 100% nylon with a beautiful sheen and sculpts the sleeves using an elaborate pattern of darting and articulation so that they have a 3-dimensional winged form. Both while standing and in motion, the piece retains a structured and voluminous shape that seems to envelop the body in its presence. The articulation also lends to complete freedom of movement of the arms. It’s amazing how little you feel the fabric around you.
